Mathematician and logician
Georg Cantor was a German mathematician and logician. He is best known for his work on set theory and the development of the concept of infinity. Cantor was born in Germany in 1845 and studied mathematics at the University of Berlin. He later became a professor at the University of Halle and made significant contributions to the field of mathematics. Cantor's work on infinity led to a major controversy in the mathematical community, with some critics accusing him of promoting a 'myth of infinity'. He died in 1918.
