Former British intelligence officer
George Blake was a British intelligence officer and diplomat who served in the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) and the Special Operations Executive (SOE). Born on February 13, 1912, in Fez, Morocco, to an English father and Egyptian mother, he grew up in England. After graduating from Cambridge University, Blake joined MI6, where he worked undercover in China and Egypt before being arrested by Egyptian authorities. He was subsequently transferred to SOE during World War II and participated in various covert operations behind enemy lines. Following the war, Blake served as an intelligence officer for the British government and later emigrated to Russia. There, he became disillusioned with his country's actions and defected to the Soviet Union, where he worked for the KGB.
