George Eiffel was a French engineer and architect who is best known for designing the Eiffel Tower. He was a prominent figure in the field of engineering and architecture during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Eiffel was born in Dijon, France and studied engineering at the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures. He went on to work for the Compagnie des Établissements Eiffel, where he designed several notable structures, including the Eiffel Tower. Eiffel was also involved in the construction of the Panama Canal, although the exact nature of his involvement is unclear. He died in Paris, France in 1923.
