Ghaith Abdul-Ahad is a Syrian journalist and author. He was born in 1974 in Damascus, Syria. Abdul-Ahad worked as a correspondent for The Guardian in Iraq and Syria. He is the author of the book 'The Angel of Tombstone', which won the 2013 Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. Abdul-Ahad has also written for other publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times. He is known for his reporting on the Syrian Civil War and its impact on civilians. Abdul-Ahad has received several awards for his work, including the 2013 Orwell Prize for Exposing the Abuse of Power. He is currently a senior correspondent for The Guardian.
