Gina Ortiz Jones

Gina Ortiz Jones is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 23rd congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Jones was born in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. Jones is the first openly lesbian mayor of San Antonio and the third woman to hold the office. She is also a former U.S. Army intelligence officer and a veteran of the Iraq War. Jones is known for her progressive policies and her commitment to social justice. She is a strong advocate for women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental protection.
