Greek poet and Nobel laureate
Giorgos Seferis was a Greek poet, playwright, and diplomat. He was born in 1900 in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire (now Istanbul, Turkey), and studied at the University of Athens. Seferis was a prominent figure in Greek literature, winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1963. He was also a prolific writer, publishing numerous poetry collections and plays. Seferis was known for his unique and innovative writing style, which blended elements of Greek folklore and modernism. He was also a diplomat and served as the Greek ambassador to Italy and the United States.
