Italian Baroque composer
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi was an Italian Baroque composer and organist. He was born in Naples, Italy in 1710 and died in 1736. Pergolesi is best known for his compositions for the church, particularly his masses and motets. He was a prolific composer and wrote many works for the church and for the royal court. Pergolesi's music is characterized by its beauty and simplicity, and he is considered one of the greatest composers of the Baroque period. He is buried in the Sansepolcro church in Naples.
