Harlan Sanders was an American entrepreneur, businessman, and cook. He founded Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Corbin, Kentucky, and built the company into a global fast-food chain. Born on September 9, 1890, in Henryville, Indiana, Sanders grew up in a poor family and dropped out of school in the seventh grade. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and later worked as a cook in various restaurants. In the 1950s, Sanders perfected his secret recipe for fried chicken and opened the first KFC restaurant in Corbin. The chain quickly expanded, and Sanders became a celebrity in his own right. He was known for his charismatic personality and his ability to market his product. Sanders passed away on December 16, 1980, at the age of 90. He was inducted into the Food Hall of Fame in 1990 and received numerous awards for his contributions to the fast-food industry.
