Human rights lawyer and founder of Centre for Women's Justice
Harriet Wistrich is a prominent human rights lawyer with a career spanning over two decades. She studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University before moving to Liverpool to begin her career in film and documentaries. After gaining experience in the film industry, she retrained as a lawyer and went on to establish the Centre for Women's Justice in 2016. Her work has focused on securing justice for women who have been subjected to abuse and exploitation. She has won landmark cases and helped women regain their freedom after being imprisoned for killing their abusers. Harriet has also represented women seeking justice from the Metropolitan Police over their deployment of undercover police officers who have had relationships and children with female activists. Her work has been recognized nationally and internationally, and she is widely respected for her dedication to human rights and social justice.
