Lutheran pastor and church leader
Heinrich Melchior Mühlenberg was a Lutheran pastor and church leader who played a key role in the formation of the first Lutheran Synod in North America. Born in 1711 in Einbeck, Germany, Mühlenberg moved to the American colonies in 1742 and helped to found many Lutheran congregations through his tireless travel. He is remembered as a church leader, liturgist, and pastor, and his legacy continues to be felt in the Lutheran Church today.
