Hendrick Potgieter

Hendrick Potgieter was a Voortrekker leader who played a key role in the Boer Wars. He was born in 1790 in the Netherlands and immigrated to South Africa in 1837. Potgieter became a leader in the Voortrekker movement, which sought to establish independent Boer states in the region. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Transvaal Republic and served as its president from 1845 to 1848.
