Henry Briggs was a 17th-century English mathematician and astronomer who made significant contributions to the field of logarithms. He was born in 1561 in Yorkshire, England, and died in 1631. Briggs was a fellow of the Royal Society and was known for his work on astronomical tables and his development of the logarithmic scale.
