Henry Caswall was an English clergyman and hymn writer who was born in 1786 and died in 1878. He was a prominent figure in the Church of England and was known for his work as a hymn writer and translator. Caswall was also a strong advocate for the use of vernacular languages in worship and was a key figure in the development of the Book of Common Prayer. He was a prolific writer and published several books on theology and hymnody. Caswall was also a strong supporter of the Church of England's mission to the world and was involved in several missionary efforts throughout his life.
