Herry Die Strandloper was a South African of mixed European and indigenous descent who lived in the 17th century. He is believed to have been one of the first Europeans to settle in South Africa, and he played a key role in the early history of the Dutch colony at the Cape of Good Hope. Little is known about Herry's life, but he is remembered as a symbol of the complex and often fraught relationships between European colonizers and the indigenous people of South Africa.
