Director and animator at Studio Ghibli
Hiroyuki Morita is a Japanese film director and animator. Born in 1961 in Tokyo, Japan, Morita graduated from the Gakushuin University with a degree in literature. He began his career in the film industry as an animator for several Japanese studios before joining Studio Ghibli in 1985. Morita is credited with directing several Studio Ghibli films, including The Wind Rises and When Marnie Was There. He is also known for his work as a writer and producer, and has written several books on animation and film.
