Historian and politician
Hong Chengyuan was a Chinese politician and historian who served as a grand secretary during the Qing dynasty. He was known for his loyalty to the emperor and his role in suppressing the Taiping Rebellion. Hong Chengyuan was also a prolific writer and poet, and his works are still studied by scholars today. He was born in 1624 and died in 1684.
