Hong Xiuquan was a Chinese Christian who led the Taiping Rebellion, a major civil war in China from 1850 to 1864. He was the founder of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and claimed to be the younger brother of Jesus Christ. Hong Xiuquan's rebellion was ultimately defeated, but it had a significant impact on Chinese history and society.
