Survivor of the Rwandan Genocide and author
Immaculée Ilibagiza is a Rwandan survivor of the 1994 genocide and the author of several books on the subject. She was a teenager when she was forced to hide in a small bathroom with seven other women for 88 days, surviving on scraps and prayers. Ilibagiza has become a prominent voice on the subject of genocide and its aftermath, and has spoken publicly about her experiences. She has also worked with several organizations to help survivors of the genocide and to promote reconciliation in Rwanda.
