Japanese-American radio broadcaster
Iva Toguri was a Japanese-American radio broadcaster who became infamous for her broadcasts as "Tokyo Rose" during World War II. Born in 1916 in Los Angeles, California, Toguri began her broadcasting career in the 1930s and gained notoriety for her sympathetic and sometimes inflammatory broadcasts to Japan. She was arrested and imprisoned by the US military after the war and spent several years in prison. Toguri died in 1985. Despite her controversial legacy, Toguri remains a fascinating figure in American history.
