Physician and physiologist
Ivan Pavlov was a Russian physician and physiologist who is best known for his work on classical conditioning. He was born in 1849 in Ryazan, Russia and studied medicine at the University of Moscow. Pavlov worked at the Imperial Medical Academy in St. Petersburg and conducted extensive research on the digestive system. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. Pavlov was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1904 for his work on the physiology of digestion.
