Jack Huggins was a renowned Indigenous Australian athlete, soldier, and community leader. He was a talented surf lifesaver and rugby league player, and served in the Australian Army during World War II. Huggins was taken prisoner by the Japanese during the Fall of Singapore and spent several years in captivity. After his release, he became the first Indigenous Australian to work in the post office. Huggins was a respected figure in his community and was known for his bravery and resilience. He passed away in 1998.
