Jacob Parrott was an American soldier who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was awarded the first Medal of Honor for his actions on March 25, 1863. Parrott was born in 1839 in Ohio and enlisted in the army in 1861. He saw action in several battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg. Parrott was wounded in combat and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery. He returned to civilian life after the war and lived in Ohio until his death in 1913.
