French philosopher
Jacques Derrida was a French philosopher known for his work on deconstruction and poststructuralism. He was born in 1930 in El Biar, Algeria, and died in 2004. Derrida's work challenged traditional notions of meaning and truth, and he is widely regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. He is perhaps best known for his concept of 'différance', which refers to the way in which meaning is always deferred and never fixed.
