Philosopher and Catholic theologian
Jacques Maritain was a French philosopher and Catholic theologian. He was born on November 28, 1882, in Paris, France. Maritain studied philosophy at the Sorbonne and later at the University of Paris. He was a prominent figure in the Catholic intellectual movement and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1959. Maritain was also a prolific writer and published numerous works on philosophy, theology, and politics. He was a key figure in the development of the New Scholasticism and was a close friend and collaborator of other prominent thinkers such as Étienne Gilson and Gabriel Marcel.
