Jake LaMotta was an American professional boxer and actor. Born on January 10, 1921, in Newark, New Jersey, LaMotta rose to fame in the 1940s and 1950s. He won the world middleweight championship in 1951 and was known for his aggressive fighting style. LaMotta also appeared in several films, including the 1980 biographical film Raging Bull, which was directed by Martin Scorsese. He passed away on September 19, 2017, at the age of 96.
