Jamal Hamdan is an Egyptian author and scholar. He is best known for his book "The Jews of Egypt". Born in 1936 in Cairo, Egypt, Hamdan studied at the American University in Cairo and later earned his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of London. He has written extensively on Jewish history and culture in Egypt and has been a prominent figure in Egyptian intellectual circles. Hamdan has also been involved in various academic and cultural institutions, including the American University in Cairo and the Egyptian Jewish Community. He is currently retired and lives in Cairo.
