Jana Pawâl II was the Pope of the Catholic Church from 1978 to 2005. He was the first non-Italian Pope in over 450 years and is widely regarded as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. During his papacy, Pope John Paul II played a significant role in ending communism in Eastern Europe and promoting interfaith dialogue.
