Jay Wilmer Benjamin was an American author, teacher, and editor, best known for his work in the fantasy and horror genres. Born in 1905, Benjamin began his writing career in the 1920s, publishing his first story in Weird Tales Magazine in 1933. He went on to write numerous short stories and novels, including the classic tale 'Drowned Argosies', which was first published in 1934. Benjamin was also a teacher and editor, and was known for his work in promoting the work of other writers. He passed away in 1979, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential writers of the Weird Tales era.
