French paleoanthropologist and archaeologist
Jean-Marie Chauvet is a French paleoanthropologist and archaeologist who has made significant contributions to the field of prehistoric art and culture. He is best known for his discovery of the Chauvet Cave, a prehistoric cave in France that contains some of the oldest known examples of human art. Chauvet has also written several books on the subject and has been a prominent figure in the French archaeological community. He is currently a researcher at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris.
