Joe Gillis is an American screenwriter and novelist. He is best known for his work on the film noir classic, 'Out of the Past'. Gillis was born in 1914 and died in 1990. He was a prolific writer and worked on many films and TV shows during his career. Gillis was also a novelist and published several books. He is considered one of the most influential screenwriters of all time.
