Johann Bayer was a German astronomer and cartographer who made significant contributions to the field of astronomy. He is best known for creating the Uranometria star map, which cataloged over 1,000 stars. Bayer was also a prolific writer and published several books on astronomy. He was a member of the Jesuit order and was known for his piety and humility. Bayer passed away in 1625 at the age of 66. He is considered one of the most important astronomers of the 17th century.
