Johannes Gutenberg was a German goldsmith, printer, and publisher who invented the movable-type printing press. He is credited with inventing the first movable-type printing press, which revolutionized printing and played a key role in the spread of knowledge during the Renaissance. Gutenberg was born in Mainz, Germany in 1398 and died in 1468.
