Polish astronomer and mathematician
Johannes Hevelius was a Polish astronomer and mathematician born in 1611 in Gdaõsk, Poland. He studied at the University of Krakow and later at the University of Heidelberg. Hevelius made significant contributions to the field of astronomy, including the discovery of several moons of Jupiter and the cataloging of numerous comets. He was also a prolific writer and published several books on astronomy and mathematics. Hevelius is considered one of the most important astronomers of the 17th century.
