John A. Lomax

John A. Lomax was an American folklorist and music collector who is best known for his work on American folk music. He was a professor at the University of Texas and was instrumental in collecting and preserving traditional American music. Lomax was also a musician and wrote several books on music and folklore. He is considered one of the most important figures in the development of American folk music.
