John Avery Lomax

John Avery Lomax was an American musicologist and folklorist. He was a prominent figure in the field of American folk music and was known for his work in collecting and preserving traditional music. Lomax was also a professor at the University of Texas and was a vocal advocate for the preservation of American cultural heritage. He was the father of Eudora Welty and was a close friend of Langston Hughes.
