Conceptual artist and educator
John Baldessari was an American conceptual artist, educator, and writer. He is known for his work in the fields of conceptual art, performance art, and film. Baldessari was a prominent figure in the development of conceptual art in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also a prolific writer and published several books on art and education. He taught at the California Institute of the Arts and was a visiting professor at several other institutions. Baldessari's work often explored the relationship between language and image, and he was known for his use of humor and irony in his art. He died in 2020 at the age of 88.
