Italian Catholic priest and founder of the Capuchin Order
John Capistrano was an Italian Catholic priest and the founder of the Capuchin Order. He was born in 1386 and died in 1456. Capistrano was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church during the 15th century, and was known for his piety and his work as a missionary. He founded the Capuchin Order, which became a major force in Catholic spirituality and evangelization. Capistrano was also a skilled musician and composer, and wrote several hymns and chants that are still used in Catholic worship today.
