Former Prime Minister
John Major is a British politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1990 to 1997. He was the leader of the Conservative Party and played a key role in the UK's decision to join the European Economic Community (EEC), which later became the European Union (EU). Major was born in 1943 in Northampton, England, and studied at the University of Oxford. He entered politics in the 1970s and served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for several years before becoming Prime Minister. During his time in office, Major oversaw significant economic reforms and played a key role in the UK's response to the Gulf War. He has since retired from politics and has written several books on history and politics.
