Nobel laureate and astrophysicist
John Mather is an American astrophysicist and Nobel laureate. He is best known for his work on the cosmic microwave background radiation and his discovery of the anisotropies in the CMB. Mather is currently the senior project scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006. Mather is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
