American pharmacist and inventor
John Pemberton was an American pharmacist and inventor who is best known for creating Coca-Cola. Pemberton was born in 1831 in Tennessee, USA. He studied medicine at the University of Georgia and later worked as a pharmacist in Atlanta. In 1886, Pemberton created a new soft drink to cure headaches, which he called Coca-Cola. The drink quickly gained popularity, and Pemberton sold the formula to Asa Griggs Candler for a significant sum. Pemberton passed away in 1888 at the age of 57. He is also known for inventing other products, including a cough syrup and a patent medicine.
