Former director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
John V. Hines is a biologist and conservationist who served as the director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from 2001 to 2005. During his tenure, he oversaw the recovery of several endangered species, including the grizzly bear. Hines has also worked on various conservation projects, including the development of the Endangered Species Act. He is currently a professor at the University of Montana and has written extensively on conservation biology and policy.
