Spanish politician and economist
José Luis Arrese was a Spanish politician and economist who served as the Minister of Housing and Urban Development during the dictatorship of General Francisco Franco. He was a member of the Falange, a fascist party that was closely tied to the Franco regime. Arrese was known for his efforts to promote homeownership and urban development in Spain, but his policies were also criticized for being elitist and favoring the interests of the wealthy. After the death of Franco, Arrese continued to be involved in politics, but he largely remained out of the public eye. He died in 1993 at the age of 85.
