Astrophysicist and science communicator
Karl Sagan was an American astronomer and astrophysicist who was a leading figure in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. He was born in 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in a family of Jewish immigrants. Sagan earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He worked at NASA's Ames Research Center and was a professor at Cornell University. Sagan was a popular science writer and television presenter, and his book and television series 'Cosmos' made him a household name. He was also a vocal advocate for science education and critical thinking. Sagan passed away in 1996, but his legacy continues to inspire new generations of scientists and science communicators.
