NASA mathematician and engineer
Katherine Johnson was an American mathematician and engineer who worked at NASA's Langley Research Center. She is best known for her work on the Apollo 11 mission and her role in the development of the Saturn V rocket. Johnson's calculations were instrumental in the success of the mission, and she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015 for her contributions to the space program. She was also the subject of the bestselling book and film Hidden Figures.
