Canadian politician and diplomat
Kim Campbell is a Canadian politician and diplomat who served as the 19th Prime Minister of Canada from 1993 to 1994. She was the first female Prime Minister of Canada and the first female head of government in the world. Campbell was born on August 10, 1947, in Port Alberni, British Columbia. She studied law at the University of British Columbia and later earned a law degree from the University of Oxford. Campbell served as a Member of Parliament from 1988 to 1993 and as the Minister of National Defence from 1992 to 1993. She was appointed as the Governor General of Canada in 2012. Campbell is also a former Air Force Academy cadet wing commander and a recipient of the Order of Canada.
