Ancient Chinese king and politician
King Wen of Zhou was the founder of the Zhou dynasty and the first king of the Zhou period. He was a member of the royal family of the Shang dynasty and rose to power after the fall of the Shang. Wen was a skilled politician and military leader who united the various warring states of ancient China under his rule. He is remembered for his wise and just leadership, which brought peace and prosperity to the region. Wen was also a patron of the arts and culture, and his court was renowned for its scholars, poets, and musicians. He died in 1046 BCE and was succeeded by his son, King Wu of Zhou.
