William I, also known as William the Conqueror, was the King of England from 1066 to 1087. He was the first Norman king of England and is known for his military campaigns and administrative reforms. William was born in 1028 in Falaise, Normandy, and was the son of Robert I, Duke of Normandy. He became king after defeating the English army at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William is remembered for his strong leadership and his efforts to establish a strong centralized government in England.
