British novelist and literary critic
Kingsley Amis was a British novelist, poet, and literary critic. He is best known for his novels, including Lucky Jim and The Old Devils. Amis was born in London in 1922 and studied at Cambridge University. He went on to become a lecturer at Swansea University and later a full-time novelist. Amis was awarded the Booker Prize in 1986 for The Old Devils. He was also a prolific poet and critic, and his work has been widely praised for its wit and intelligence. Amis was known for his distinctive writing style, which often incorporated elements of satire and social commentary.
