Leopold I was the first king of the Belgians. He ruled from 1831 until his death in 1865. During his reign, he oversaw the unification of the Belgian states and the establishment of the Belgian monarchy. Leopold I was a key figure in the development of modern Belgium and is remembered as a strong leader who worked tirelessly to promote the interests of his country. He was also a patron of the arts and sciences and supported the development of education and infrastructure in Belgium. Leopold I is buried in the Royal Crypt in Brussels.
