About Leopold
Leopold II was the King of the Belgians from 1865 to 1909. He was a colonial administrator and played a significant role in the establishment of the Congo Free State. Leopold II was also a patron of science and medicine, and his efforts led to the founding of the Institute for Tropical Medicine in 1906.
